Mutual Aid Katarokwi

Mutual Aid Katarokwi /Kingston COVID-19

We are a project initiated by AKA Autonomous Social Center in Kingston ON. We formed to respond to a need we saw in our community to support those needing to self-isolate in relation to COVID-19.

Request for items from Unhoused Solidarity – December 2021

Thanks so much for the donations that have come in to AKA and also financially!! Some things that people need right now are:
Bottled water
candles (tall ones with long burning time)
Insulated pad for under sleeping bag
Sleeping bags
Warm blankets
AA batteries

You can bring items to AKA at 75 Queen St up the ramp on Mondays from 3-7pm or Thursdays from 5:30-7pm (during Blue Heron hours) or msg MAKK to set up an alternative time. Money is helpful too. You can send e-transfers to MAKK at and put Unhoused in the subject. Thank you!

Mutual aid is the belief that cooperation trumps competition when it comes to fulfilling each other’s needs. Mutual aid stands in opposition to the social Darwinian brutality of unfettered capitalism. Mutual aid is acting in a spirit of social solidarity through autonomous direct action, stepping-up and standing in opposition to the ruthlessness that the current system has set loose upon us.  Mutual Aid Katarokwi/Kingston believes that we must simultaneously address people’s immediate self-determined needs for survival and organize for fundamental shifts in the way we relate to each other and the earth.

This is 100% a volunteer run initiative. We will do our best to meet the needs of those who sign up but please understand we have a limited capacity.

MAKK members are building a tenant solidarity network to build collective power against increasing evictions and landlord exploitation as the pandemic continues. The tenant solidarity network tries to approach issues of eviction and exploitation as a collective using different direct action phases depending on each unique case.
